This is a Mediterranean inspired blend. The grape varieties are Carignan, Shiraz, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah and a little Viognier, which have been cherry picked from Carmel’s finest vineyards from all over Israel, including the Upper Galilee, Zichron Ya’acov, Judean Hills and the Negev. The wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. It has a deep purple color, with an aroma of black cherries, spices, leather and truffles. The wine is elegant, well-balanced and has been made for cellaring. The drawing on the label is of Carmel’s Zichron Ya’acov Wine Cellars.
Elegant with an aroma of black cherries. leather and truffles. Dry red wine from our Premium Collection. A Mediterranean style blend, made from grape varieties cherry picked from Carmel’s finest vineyards, from all over Israel.Â
The wine comes mainly from the Shomron Wine Region, but there are also components from the Upper Galilee, Judean Hills and Negev in the final blend. Each variety was vinified and aged separately for 7 months in small French oak barrels, and then the final blend was made and returned to barrel for a further 8 months. The wine was then aged in bottle for over 12 months before release. It was unfined and only coarsely filtered and therefore will throw a light sediment over time. Carmel Mediterranean is made in the ‘old world’ style. It is deep purple with an aroma of black cherries, leather and truffles. The wine is elegant, with a delicate balance between fruit, tannin and acidity. It is considered suitable for aging.Â
